About Us
I wish my introduction to drinking wine was a little more fancy, but I actually started out drinking white zinfandel out of a box with cheap cheese and calling it a wine and cheese party — but it was classy….because we dressed up. As I continued to drink wine and started taking some wine business classes at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, I realized I was in love! So a few (or 5) years later, I had a Bachelors Degree in Wine Business. After a couple years in the wine industry I found Sovino Wine Bar & Merchant, formerly Wine from the Heart, on Craigslist of all places. Monterey holds a special place in my heart as a Prunedale native. After opening in May 2014, and not wanting to stop there, I quickly embarked on training, and became a Sommelier 6 months later.
After all my education and training, for me, the most important part of wine is still that people drink what they like, and do so around friends and family and do so while listening to great music! Whether you're looking to enjoy a nice crisp glass of white wine on our patio, or grab a blanket and cozy up inside with a glass of red, we'd love to invite you to be part of our Sovino family. We'd even love to meet your four legged friends!
With so many amazing wineries along the beautiful Central Coast and in our own backyard, my goal is to bring you local flavors in a warm, relaxing environment. From bottles sourced as close as Carmel Valley wineries to as far north as Napa Valley, we have something for everyone. Yes! We've even added some beers to our menu if you're not in a wine-y mood. We're so honored to serve the Downtown Monterey area, just a mile away from Cannery Row and the infamous Monterey Aquarium.
